Brazilian volleyball icon Bruno Rezende has achieved everything an athlete could dream of. Olympic gold, international championships, and the honor of captaining his national team.
But his legacy extends far beyond the court. As a proud member of Let’s Keep The Ball Flying’s (LKTBF) 1% Movement, Bruno is committed to using his platform to create lasting change in underserved communities through volleyball.
In a heartfelt conversation with fellow LKTBF Ambassador Malina Terrell during the Volleyball Nations League, Bruno shared what drives him to be part of this movement and why he believes volleyball has the power to transform lives.
A Deep Connection to the Cause
Bruno first discovered LKTBF on Instagram, drawn to the mission of uniting the world through volleyball. After connecting with LKTBF founder Lesley, he was inspired by the passion and dedication of the global volleyball community rallying behind the cause.
“For me, volleyball has given me almost everything in life,” Bruno shared. “It comes from my family, and I just love this sport. I want to give something back.”
Growing up in Brazil, where many communities lack resources, Bruno understands the impact that initiatives like LKTBF can have. The mission to bring volleyball to every corner of the world, especially where access is limited, deeply resonates with him.
Leading by Example
As one of the sport’s most recognisable figures, Bruno knows that his influence extends beyond the game itself. He is determined to use his platform to inspire others, encouraging fellow athletes to join the movement and give back.
“I try to talk with some good friends in volleyball, from different nationalities, and everyone immediately wants to be part of this adventure,” he said.

Bruno’s commitment to LKTBF is more than just words. His involvement in the 1% Movement, where athletes donate 1% of their earnings to support volleyball projects worldwide, has already contributed to life-changing opportunities for young players in underserved regions.
A Future on the Ground
While Bruno has been an advocate for LKTBF from afar, he is eager to take his commitment a step further. With his national team career likely coming to a close soon, he sees 2025 as the perfect time to join an LKTBF impact tour and experience the work firsthand.
“For me, it’s not just a goal. It’s a dream,” he said. “Watching the videos of LKTBF’s projects is already inspiring, but to live that moment, to be there, will be even more impactful.”
Malina, who has already been part of several LKTBF trips, shared how these experiences not only allow athletes to give back but also provide personal growth and deeper perspective. Bruno wholeheartedly agreed.
“It’s not just about giving. These experiences shape who you are,” he reflected. “You come back a better person.”

A Legend’s Commitment
As a token of appreciation, Bruno received LKTBF’s special Legend Jersey, symbolising his dedication to the movement. But for him, the true reward lies in making a difference.
With his influence, passion, and leadership, Bruno Rezende is proving that being a volleyball legend isn’t just about winning medals, it’s about leaving a lasting impact on the world.
