Adopt a Volleyball Team: LKTBF Launches Pilot Program in Africa
In a world where access to sports and recreational activities is often taken for granted, millions of children in rural communities around the globe are left without the opportunity to participate in organized sports. Recognizing the transformative power of sports, Let's Keep The Ball Flying (LKTBF) volleyball foundation has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative to bridge this gap and empower underserved communities through volleyball.
A New Beginning: Launching the Pilot Program
This year, LKTBF introduced a special pilot program in Africa aimed at providing access to volleyball for young athletes in rural areas. Spearheaded by four of LKTBF's ambassadors – Cody Kessel (USA), Helo Lacerda (Brazil), Giulia Pisani (Italy), and Kiera van Ryk (Canada) – the program marks the beginning of a new chapter in the organization's mission to promote inclusivity and empowerment through sports.
After months of planning and preparation, the pilot program officially kicked off with the adoption of four volleyball teams – two boys' teams and two girls' teams – in local schools in Tanzania. The teams were selected based on their enthusiasm for the sport and their commitment to participation, setting the stage for a journey of growth and transformation.
Supporting the Teams: Gear, Equipment, and Beyond
Central to the success of the pilot program is LKTBF's commitment to providing comprehensive support to the adopted teams. Through the circular gear program, the teams received locally produced volleyball gear and equipment, ensuring that they have the necessary resources to train and compete.
Additionally, LKTBF's partnership with local volleyball club Killimagnet Volleyball ensures ongoing support and guidance for the teams as they navigate their volleyball journey.
Looking Ahead: The Next Phase of the Pilot Program
As the pilot program enters its next phase, LKTBF is exploring additional opportunities to enhance the experience for the adopted teams and their communities. This includes organizing events, matches, and recorded training sessions, as well as facilitating connections between the ambassadors and their respective teams.
The goal is to foster a sense of belonging and empowerment among the young athletes, inspiring them to reach their full potential on and off the court.
