When Italian pro volleyball player Viola Tonello steps onto the court, something magical happens. But in Tanzania, it wasn’t just her skills that turned heads, it was her heart.
For the second year in a row, Viola joined Let’s Keep The Ball Flying (LKTBF) on a volunteering trip for the LKTBF Guru project, this time to East Africa. What unfolded was an emotional and unforgettable exchange of love, laughter, and volleyball.
“Wow… What can I say? I love this place. I love these schools. I love these kids.” — Viola Tonello
At every school we visited, children instinctively gravitated towards Viola. Her warmth was magnetic. With each moment, she became more than just a visitor, she became part of their story.

One of the most powerful highlights? Delivering nearly 100 shirts donated by her former club, Millenium Brescia, now a proud LKTBF partner. At Umoja School, students wore these shirts with pride, the bright colours a symbol of unity between two worlds.
“I wore these shirts every day in training. To see them here, on these amazing kids, in this beautiful place.. It was incredible.”
Beyond the gear, Viola’s real gift was presence. Whether teaching passing techniques, dancing in the red dust, or sharing quiet moments of play, she brought joy wherever she went. “Some kids were so interested in learning the techniques. They were so excited to play. It gave me so much, not only as a player, but as a person.”

Viola’s commitment to LKTBF goes beyond one trip. She’s a true champion of our mission to unite the world through volleyball. Giving her time, voice, and heart to empower the next generation.
And this journey is just the beginning. Thank you, Viola, for sharing your light! 🌍🏐
I’m trying to be as present as possible. This experience is so important to me, full of joy, full of smiles, full of love.
